The Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX is a versatile and ultra-compact telephoto zoom lens that offers a 3.6x zoom range, ideal for portraiture, sports or wildlife, and is designed exclusively for Nikon DX format SLRs. It ius the ideal companion to the DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED lens. The Nikon Super Integrated Coating used in this lens minimizes ghosting and flare to provide even higher contrast and more vivid mages, even in challenging light conditions.
This G-type Nikkor lens is designed with no aperture rings, and offers easier, virtually mistake-free operation because the aperture does not need to be set to minimum.
Note: Equivalent focal length in 35mm terms when used on a digital camera is 82.5-300mm.
Note: AF-S feature is not supported by certain camera models.
Auto Focus - Silent Wave (AF-S) is a type of focusing motor used in a number of AF-Nikkor lenses; the AF-S motor is very fast and quiet. AF-S lenses also have an "A/M" mode selector which allows the user to switch from automatic to manual focus with almost no lag time.
The cameras fully compatible with the AF-S focus motor are the F6, F5, F4s, F100, N90s, N90, N80, N75, N70, N65, D1 & D2-series, D50, D70, D100, Pronea 6i, and Pronea S (or newer camera models). With other models, AF-S lenses must be focused manually.
Note: DX lenses are NOT recommended for use with 35mm or APS SLR cameras
