Digital Zoom

(for Camcorders)
Through the use of digital technology, the zoom ratio on select Panasonic camcorders can be increased to an amazing 700:1 or greater, depending on the model. After the highest optical zoom setting is reached, the digital zoom automatically takes over, magnifying the image by blowing up the pixels to give you an incredibly close shot.

(for Digital Cameras)
A feature found in many digital cameras that takes a portion of the image's data and displays it at full size, producing an enlargement (magnification) of the original image, similar to the effect of using a telephoto lens. This process, however, is different from the magnification produced using the camera's optical zoom, and the stronger the digital zoom, the more the image will degrade.

PHOTOVU LINK

This convenient feature allows you to link the camcorder to your computer by using a USB or RS-232C cable, (depending on the model). Then, you can easily transfer still images captured on the Mini DV tape to your computer for use in email or printed documents. (RS-232C serial connection is available on the PV-DV53 and PV-DV103. Serial cable and software not included).

CARD LINK

Thanks to the SD Memory card slot, you can use an SD memory card to save and transfer your images to a PC. Plus, you can even create your own images on the computer and transfer them back to the memory card in the camcorder. An SD memory card is even included with all Card Link models.

PhotoShot Built-in Digital Still Camera

In addition to normal camcorder operation, select camcorders feature a PhotoShot Built-in Digital Still Camera. The still pictures taken while using this feature may be stored on an SD memory card. To transfer these still pictures to your computer for use in e-mail or printed documents, you can use the included PC connection cable. Or, simply remove the optional memory card from the camcorder, place the card into a PC adaptor for SD card or an SD USB Reader/Writer. You can even use these still images to create your own slide show by recording them to the videotape in the camcorder.

Picture-in-Picture

This feature allows you to insert a previously taken digital still image into the video you're recording. The still image is taken using the PhotoShot feature and appears on the right side of the video you're recording. The video and miniaturized still shot then appear together during playback.

Built-in SD Drive

Thanks to the SD memory card slot, on select models, you can actually use your camcorder as an external SD storage drive. Using the included USB cable, you can transfer photos, data files or even motion images back and forth between the camcorder and your PC.

MagicVu IR Filter

This amazing feature allows you to record in total darkness with incredible detail. With the use of infrared technology, you can record objects in total darkness up to approximately 10 feet away. Images record in your choice of black and white, blue or green.

MPEG4 Movie Recording

Go ahead and share your favorite moments with family and friends. It's easy with MPEG4 Movie Recording. The high compression MPEG4 format lets you record moving images that can be used on the Internet or as e-mail attachments. And you can choose from three recording modes: SuperFine, Fine or Normal depending on your needs. You can even record your movies to an SD memory card for added convenience.
