What it Means to be a Big Sister by Lindsey Coker Luckey is a beautifully illustrated children's story told in rhyme. The older sister is sharing all the things she hopes to do as she fulfills her very important role as the older sibling - and she is certainly up for the challenge. She is going to be a great one, having compiled a list of activities she will share with her little sister. The idea of these sibling trysts are stellar - each one offering both nostalgia for adults who have siblings and providing wonderful ideas for a new sibling to consider as benefits of the new addition. Coker Luckey's book is perfect to read aloud.

Coker Luckey's illustrations match beautifully with the story. I fell instantly in love with the detailed watercolors of the two girls. The layout of the images pairs well with the text, making this a pleasing book to look at. Readers will love how intricate each illustration is. The soft palette of watercolors lends itself well to beautifully rendered illustrations. The color continues from illustration onto the text pages, creating a flowing book that young readers will treasure.
