Gr 1-5-Fans of The Princess and the Frog can follow in Tiana's culinary footsteps with the 50 movie-inspired recipes in this cookbook. The recipes are graded on a level of difficulty from one (assembly-based recipes like Transforming Fruit Salad) to five (multistep dishes like Diner-Style Chicken and Biscuits), so there's something for chefs of any skill level. Each recipe includes a full-page photo of the finished product, a blurb about the dish, and an illustration from the movie, in addition to the serving size, ingredients, and directions. Many also include a helpful tip for the recipe, such as an ingredient swap or potential time-saver. The recipes include New Orleans classics (Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Muffaletta Sandwich) as well as cheeky nods to the film and its characters (Princess Flatbread Pizza, Naveen-Style Green Beans). Introductory sections cover preparation, safety, and cleaning up, and the book concludes with a glossary of ingredients, equipment, and instructions that may be unfamiliar to readers. She writes a regular column about kids and cooking for Eating Well magazine, and her work has appeared in projects for Parents, Burger King, Yankee Candle, Friendlys, and Rizzoli publishing, to name a few. For six years, she was the food editor of Family Fun magazine, where she developed recipes and managed the publications on-site test kitchen. She lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband and daughters.
